Course description – The race starts before the entrance gate to Roosevelt National Forest at the top of Pole Hill Road. The trail starts out flat, then climbs steeply to the first summit at the power lines (all within 1/4 mile). You have a short rolling downhill breather before you start to climb again and reach summit number 2. A long, flat, groomed trail takes you to a T-junction point and Aid Station (around 1.8 miles). Take a right turn at the T-junction/Aid Station to begin a loop. Leaving the aid station, runners follow a short climb up to the highest point of the race, to summit number 3. After following a rolling scenic ridge line, runners will descend the loose rock trail back to the main trail ( just over 3 miles). Once at this junction, take a right onto the flat section of trail that you have already covered. This will complete a loop back to the forest T-junction/Aid Station ( 3.7 miles). Once at T-junction for a second time, runners turn left and enjoy rolling climbs and descents until close to 4.75 miles. Taking a left onto NFS 122, runners will join the first main trail (NFS 247A), and enjoy a rolling decent back to a short climb to the power lines summit. Then a steep descent back to the trail entrance and down less than a 1/8 mile on Pole Hill Road. Runners will then take the north entrance to Ravencrest School, and follow dirt road to the finish line!
Aid station – water will be available at an aid station at the forest T-junction at 1.8 miles on first loop, and 3.7 miles on second loop.
